New Life!

How?

If you are like others, you think that you are a good person.  You have always tried to be your best, and do what you think is right.  As you look at your life, you may even say that the good outweighs the bad.  Yet, do you still feel empty, unsatisfied, void, and all alone in this world?

Like others, you may have tried things such as alcohol, drugs, sex, material possessions, partying, or even people/friends to fill this unexplained emptiness you have.

But, is there still something that is missing from your life?  There is One who can fill that emptiness --- God.  You have tried lots of different things to fill that emptiness in your life, but nothing has worked.  It is time to turn to God.  When you do, you will find that He is the answer you have been looking for the whole time.

God has given us the Bible, an important manual for life.  He is the author of this book and has given us instructions for how we can have joy, peace, hope, and fulfillment in life.  In the Bible, God has given us the answers to the problems and emptiness you are facing in your life.  Continue reading and discover what God says in the Bible about how you can have a new, fulfilled life in Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that we are all sinners.  Romans 3:10 reads, "None is righteous, no, not one."  The reason there are none who are righteous is because, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," Romans 3:23.  In Romans 6:23, the Bible says, "The wages of sin is death." Death for the person who does not have a relationship with Jesus Christ has two dimensions.  The unsaved person will die physically and spiritually.  Physical death is when life ceases to be in the physical body, but spiritual death is when a person dies and goes to Hell for eternity (Revelation 21:8).  The Bible tells us about two men in Luke 16:19-31.  These two men both died and both men went to spend eternity in two different places.  The saved man (Lazarus) went to be with the Lord; not because he was poor and neglected in this life, but because he had a relationship with Jesus Christ in which he had experienced his sins being forgiven.  The Lost man (the Bible does not give us his name, it simply refers to him as "the rich man") also died, but he went to spend eternity in Hell, not because he was rich, but because he did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ.  He never repented of his sins, and, as a result, did not experience God's forgiveness.

How can my sins be forgiven?

Your sins can be forgiven if you are willing to call on the Lord and ask for forgiveness; "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13).  Sin has to be paid for, and Jesus Christ came and died for sinners on the Cross (Luke 19:101 John 2:1-2).  Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life on earth, and was killed on a Roman cross in the same way common criminals  were put to death.  Jesus was crucified with two criminals the day He died.  Following His death, He was placed in a tomb.  Three days following, Christ arose from the dead alive!  He walked out of the tomb, and appeared to many witnesses (Matthew 28:61 Corinthians 15:3-4).  If you believe these facts concerning Jesus Christ, and if you are willing to place your faith in Him, and ask for forgiveness, you will be saved (Romans 10:9-10,13).

What is repentance?

"Repentance" is not a commonly used word in our world today.  Still it is necessary in order to be saved.  Acts 3:19 reads, "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out"  Repentance is the act of admitting you are a sinner who deserves the condemnation of Holy God.  True repentance is when you admit this before God and turn from your sin and turn to Jesus Christ in faith for the forgiveness of sin.  Repentance is like making a u-turn; it is changing the direction of your life.  It is turning away from the old ways and turning to Jesus Christ by faith in His death and resurrection from the dead.  When you do this, the Bible says that He will forgive you and cleanse you from your sins.

Is Jesus Christ the only way?

Yes!  Jesus Christ is the only way to receive salvation.  Jesus Christ Himself said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6)  Jesus Christ is the only One to ever die for the sins of the world (John 3:161 John 2:1-2).  Buddha, Muhammad, and all of the other religious leaders of world history never paid the debt of sin.  These individuals were all sinners themselves, but Jesus Christ was not a sinner, and He died to pay the sin debt that you owed (2 Corinthians 5:21, "For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.")  Some people believe that mere sincerity in some religion will be good enough to get them into Heaven, but based on what Jesus said in John 14:6, there is no other way outside of Jesus Christ.  The Bible tells us in Acts 4:12, "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."  In order to be delivered from your sin and taken out from under the wrath of God, therefore, you must turn to Jesus Christ and plead for Him to forgive you and to save you.

How do I call on Jesus Christ for Salvation?

In order to call on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, you must believe that He truly died for your sin, rose from the dead, and is willing to forgive your sinful condition.  By praying to the Lord in a personal way, you can call on Him and admit you are a sinner who needs to be saved, and ask for forgiveness.  There is no special or magical prayer that must be spoken.  God hears and answers the prayer of a repentant sinner.  You simply need to speak to the Lord like you speak to another person.  He will hear you and He will save you.  Jesus said, "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever come to Me I will never cast out" (John 6:37).  What that means is that if you call upon the Lord for salvation, He will not turn you away!  This is also what the Bible says in Romans 10:13, "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."  No matter what you have done, if you are willing to repent and turn to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior; He will save you.
